Debbie Homan is the Bridgehaven Center for Peer Excellence Recovery Specialist and an Advanced Level WRAP Facilitator. She has the lived experience of having a serious mental illness. Debbie started her position as an Adult Peer Support Specialist with Bridgehaven Mental Health Services in March of 2020. Debbie has worked in the mental health field for almost 18 years. For 4 years she worked as an IPS (Individual Placement and Support) Supported Employment Trainer. For the previous 9 years she worked as an IPS (Individual Placement and Support) Supported Employment Specialist with a Community Mental Health Center. Debbie believes that work and employment have been a powerful force in her mental health recovery. Debbie received her B.A. in Speech Communications from Elmhurst College and her Master’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism from Northwestern University. Except for a brief 6 month period, she has been working full time since her college graduation. Debbie helps to educate the public that Treatment Works, and recovery from a serious mental illness is not only possible – but probable. Debbie and her husband Steve have been married for 19 years and live in Louisville, KY.

Uploading Certificates to TRIS

  • Each Kentucky Peer Specialist is required to complete at least six (6) continuing education hours each year.

  • Upload your certificates to DBHDID TRIS after you complete each training and by the day before your yearly deadline. (This is very important. See our Peers in the Know on-demand training: DBHDID TRIS: What is it and how does it work? by Laura Cunningham)

  • Turn in your certificates of attendance to the designated person at your agency.

  • Keep copies of your certificates forever.

Bridgehaven Center for Peer Excellence provides in-person, virtual, and on-demand trainings to Peer Support Specialists and their Supervisors and Administrators in Kentucky. This includes: Peer Supervisor Training, Adult Peer Certification Training, WRAP Training, Advocacy Academy, and Peer Continuing Education through our Peers-in-the-Know Webinar Series, and Peers-in-the-Know On-demand Recordings.
