Virtual Advocacy Academy

Advocacy Academy prepares KY peers to start Advocacy groups.

November 28 and 29; and December 6, 7, and 15 / 1-4 PM ET

Training consists of the following:

  • Five (5) Day on-line/virtual training

  • November 28th, 29th and December 6th, 7th and 15th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Eastern Time).

  • The training will include participatory instruction, group work, and idea sharing about advocacy, covering how to form an advocacy organization, run meetings, and identify and advocate for issues.

  • Participants should attend on a laptop or desktop computer in a location where they can focus and be on camera.

  • Training participants will divide into work groups to advocate around shared interests.

  • Fifteen CEs will be issued to Peer Specialists who complete the entire Advocacy Training program. Space is limited.

In this interactive training, you will:

  • learn how to advocate for yourself and for what is important to you.

  • learn how to form a workgroup and maintain an organization.

  • become familiar with running a meeting, forming an agenda, and developing goals.

  • graduate with the knowledge of how to organize within your community to confront issues and make needed changes.

Qualifications:

  • ·Must be a certified Adult Peer Support Specialist

  • Must be working as an Adult Peer Support Specialist in Kentucky and have your Supervisor's permission to participate in this Training.
